How Does Trauma Show Up in the Workplace?

Let’s Talk About It.

Work and life don’t exist in separate boxes.

The experiences we carry
– big, small, and everything in between –
shape the way we work, lead, and interact with others.

Hi! My name is Elizabeth, and I’m researching exactly that:

  • How does trauma impact the workplace?
  • How does the workplace impact our well-being?
  • What actually helps people heal and thrive at work?

This is where I welcome you in.

I would love to include your story in this research. If you’re willing, we’ll hop on a call and I’ll ask some open ended questions – it’s going to feel like a conversation where I’m learning more about you as you’re talking about my favorite subject.
You can go into as much or as little detail as you like, and, while most interviews last around 1 hour, it can go shorter or longer according to your preference.

I’m interviewing people with all kinds of work experience to understand the real impact of trauma in the workplace – whether you’ve thought about it before or not.

This isn’t about reliving painful moments. We won’t go into the details of what happened. Instead, we’ll explore how past experiences shape your behavior at work – things like stress, conflict, leadership, and resilience.

  • A relaxed, one-on-one conversation (45-60 min)
  • Open-ended questions that help us explore patterns, not just personal history
  • No pressure to share anything you’re not comfortable with
  • Completely confidential – your identity stays anonymous, and results are only shared in aggregate
  • Never quoted without your permission granted
  • Surprisingly insightful – many participants walk away with new clarity on their own experiences

✔️ You’re 18+
✔️ You have workplace experience
✔️ You remember how you’ve responded to challenges at work

(Spoiler: You don’t have to think of yourself as “traumatized” to be part of this research. One of the things I’m exploring is just how universal these experiences really are.)

This research is about empowering leaders to lead better – because I’ve seen firsthand what happens when trauma is mismanaged at work. When we understand how past experiences shape workplace dynamics, we build workplaces that actually support people, instead of adding to the harm.

And thinking through these things can be beneficial for you, too! Here’s what one person said after the interview:

“I feel so much lighter. Like this was all stored in my body, and I never got the space to connect these things together. Thank you for giving me that space… I knew this was something I needed in this season of my lifeThis helped me understand what happened in corporate – and let it stay in the past.”
